Boulton, A., & Oosterman, J. (2020, August 21). Whānau Ora: Policy and Practice - Dr Amohia Boulton in conversation with Jonathan Oosterman [Video]. Recorded for SPOL 203: Social Policy in times of crisis and change, Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington.

“If you walk alongside whānau and you are there to support whānau and allow whānau to determine their own destiny, magical things, amazing things can happen and that is all for the benefit of this country as a whole.”

While in many ways the potential of Whānau Ora is yet to be realised, for Māori - Māori communities and Māori whānau – Whānau Ora still represents the policy approach that has the most potential to capture aspirational Māori wellbeing. This video explores the promise and challenge of Whānau Ora as a policy, philosophy, model of practice and outcomes framework twenty years on from the original inception of Whānau Ora. The video was originally recorded for Jonathan Oosterman's class SPOL 203: Social policy in times of crisis and change; Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington (2020)
